About The Creator

Hello everyone! I am Jasmin Rangel, the creator of Ni de Aquí Ni de Allá. I am the daughter of Mexican immigrant parents. Living in an immigrant community is great, but there are so many issues that we face. My parents were fortunate enough to get their green card a few years ago. However, I lived the majority of my life in fear for my parents. I feared that they would be taken away from me. These fears affect mental health and can increase anxiety and depression. Even if immigrants receive their green card they still face many issues, such as racism and xenophobia. I hope that Ni de Aquí Ni de Allá can help immigrant communities and educate those who aren't.

Why Ni de Aquí Ni de Allá?

I easily thought of using the phrase, "Ni de Aquí Ni de Allá" because it is a strong and truthful saying that represents who I am as a chicana. I have heard this saying in songs and of course from the 1988 movie, "Ni de Aquí Ni de Allá" that stars the lovable India Maria.

This saying refers to the two cultures that many immigrants have. The culture of their home country where they came from and the new culture in America that they come to. The difficulty comes from not feeling like we completely belong to one culture or the other. I would even say that we belong to a third culture that is a combination of both cultures. People from America see us as foreign and the people from our home country also see us as foreign for leaving our country. Which is why we are Ni de Aquí Ni de Allá.

Our Organization

At Ni de Aquí Ni de Allá we are all about advocating for immigrant families and communities.  We supply hand-picked articles that we believe will help educate others on these critical issues. Some of these articles can also be helpful to our fellow immigrant communities. We offer links to websites and/or organizations that can be beneficial for many. For those who are willing to give a helping hand; we have picked out donation pages that help immigrant communities.

Our Mission

Ni de Aquí Ni de Allá was created as a safe space where those in immigrant communities can open up. Our mission is to bring awareness to the many issues that immigrant communities face. Most of the issues that we discuss are mental health related. We want those who are facing these issues to know that they are being seen and we are here to help each other.
